Current Research:
I am an endocrinologist and physiologist whose laboratory performs basic science and clinical, translational research:

1) Vascular reactivity of hypertension.

2) Molecular genetics of complex quantitative traits in minority populations

3) Human performance in extreme environments

For our basic science studies, we utilize: the isolated muscle bath, cell cultures and cell suspensions of vascular smooth muscle and endothelial cells; microfluorometric assays with intracellular probes, radioimmunoassay; RT PCR of mRNA transcripts; and library screening with cDNA probes. For our clinical studies, we study adrenergic receptor and thiazide receptor function with a variety of in vivo techniques
